Hmmm… I should really do some hacking now to get some stuff done but I’m so damn tired *yawn* There’re probably still news in blogworld and also this weird movie on TV, let’s see if I’m more awake when it’s over…
(Some time later) I love concidents. Today I stumbled on myfriends.de and now I read about tribe.net and Friendster on Justin’s blog. But it seems like the German equivalent is not a beta like the latter two. On the other hand looks tribe.net more fascinating, so I had a try and will fiddle a bit around…

Yeah, tribe.net is really still beta

There’s yet another article talking about the “latest” tricks used by spammers. Like adding random character sequences to the subject, seeding the spam with hidden ham and putting weird punctuation into the subject. Not really news, I’ve seen those for months now.
The conclusion of that article isn’t really new news either but puts some fact in nice words:
Spammers probably think that by adding more and more garbage to their messages, they get a higher hit rate. Although the trick may fool some scanners, spammers forget one important thing. No one in his right mind is going to open up a message that reads ‘C;ome v;isit o,ur do-ctors v^aek?’. It could be Swedish for all you know. By talking gobbledygook, spammers have found the perfect way to eliminate themselves.
So while it was pretended that the fight against spam is an endless struggle between good and bad, an endless series of assaults with new arms followed by counter-strikes, it seems like the spammers slowly reach some point where they actually can’t go any further.
But no time for rejoicing yet. Even though they can’t obfuscate their spam any further, they’ll probably look for some other way to get around the filters.

What’s that? This mail just arrived on the KDE mailinglist. Is that just somebody heavily confused or a spammer trick to harvest some addresses? Or some Nigerian spammer on his way home from his vacation in Germany?

The last time I posted something to my blog is almost a month ago. Somebody even asked me if I’m still alive because that posting started with “life sucks”
Yeah, I’m still here, just a bit busy and with a rather long (not yet finished) article in my queue…
So this is more or less just a life sign with a link from Russel Miller’s KDE Traffic #66:
I’ve taken an interest in electronics lately, and I’ve been pointed by the nice people on #electronics to a really cool book: Lessons in Electric Circuits. I learned a lot, and I bet you will too.
Indeed, especially as I still have to write the test in Electrical Engineering this semester.
